The provincial Chapter celebration will be in the form of Provincial Colloquium aimed at generating an engagement and discussion around challenges and opportunities to promote the development and sustainability of cooperatives across all thesectors. The celebration will also be based on the four economic pillars which include agriculture, manufacturing and industrial enterprise, financial inclusion and consumer cooperatives. The department will afford an opportunity to cooperatives to showcase their products and services at the Provincial Colloquium. The best 20 performing co-operatives will be chosen to represent the province at the National celebrations that will be held towards the end of August 2017, in Bloemfontein. “Government sees cooperatives as vehicles for economic development, democratic economic participation and redistribution of wealth. We therefore encourage our people especially young people to form manufacturing and industrial, financial and consumer cooperatives improve our economy especially in Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies (VTSD) areas.
