Bokone Bophirima Provincial Government will as from today – Wednesday host the much awaited Provincial Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies (VTSD) Skills Development Lekgotla at Potchefstroom. The first of its kind three-day VTSD Skills Development Lekgotla will be held from Wednesday to Friday.
The objective of the Lekgotla which is coordinated by Ikatisong School of Governance in the Office of the Premier and held under the theme – “VTSD Skills Revolution for Radical Socio-Economic Transformation” is to deepen skills development efforts in responding to the needs of the Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies – VTSD economy.
The VTSD Skills Development Lekgotla will amongst others devise strategies to expand a pool of skills required in the VTSD economy and will create a platform for discussions on skills development initiatives that contribute to the Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal of the Province as mandated by the National Development Plan.
Stakeholders expected to address the Lekgotla include amongst others, representatives from the departments of Basic Education, Higher Education and Training, Human Sciences Research Council and the National School of Government. Linked to these presentations will be a discussion on implementation of the province’s already conceived VTSD Industrialisation Plan which amongst others, seeks to encourage entrepreneurial initiatives in the province’s VTSD areas.
