The African National Congress in the North West vowed to stand along side its chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo. In a meeting held on Monday, ANC officials are adamant that Mahumapelo is not corrupt and there is a smear campaign against him.

ANC North West says allegations that the Provincial Chairperson – in his capacity as Premier of Bokone Bophirima – has imposed Dr Thabo Lekalakala as Head of Department (HOD) of Health and is involved in corruption are a clear attempt to tarnish his name. ANC Deputy Provincial Secretary, Sussana Dantjie said ANC Bokone Bophirima will defend the name of Supra Mahumapelo because they know that all the allegations against him are baseless.
“Government advertises positions and the Premier does not sit on selection
panels or for interviews. In fact, he does not even need to be consulted.
We are glad that the HOD has given clarity about his senior management
experience to the media. It is clear to us that Cde Supra’s name is being
thrown into this to make the claims politically appealing and carry some
“As the ANC Officials, we’ve got full confidence in Cde Supra as both our
Provincial Chairperson and Premier of Bokone Bophirima and we encourage
him to continue working towards changing the lives of our people for the
better the way his Fifth Administration has been doing since assuming
office in 2014,” said Dantjie.
