Rustenburg Community members in court for Nigerian Murder
Six people are expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate Court today – Monday – following the murder of a Nigerian National during the ongoing war between Rustenburg community members and alleged drug-lords. More than 20 buildings suspected to be drug dens and brothels were torched, several Nyaope boys and Nigerian Nationals suspected to be drug-lords were assaulted. Now, it is an all out war between police, community members and Nigerian Nationals. At the weekend, outraged community members went to the Rustenburg police station demanding to be arrested after rumors circulated that a list of suspects is out. The so called list is alleged to be including names of Noord Ward Councillor, Levy Mokwele and Tlhabane community leader, Bosa Ledwaba. North West police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabana Mokgoabona denied that there is a list but he however confirmed that the arrest of six people. Brigadier Mokgoabona said police are still investigating the Rustenburg incident and and if there are people linked to the incident, they would be arrested. “We don’t have a list but we are seriously investigating this matter. If people are linked to any criminal activities they would be arrested,” said Brigadier Mokgoabona.
