Scores of entrepreneurs within the sectors of biodiversity, wildlife and eco-tourism will descend to Pilanesberg for two days in an effort to discuss and open opportunities for women and youth.

The Bokone Bophirima Province MEC for Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development (READ), Manketsi Tlhape will host the 3rd Mebala Ya Rona Biodiversity Conference on the 25-26 October 2018 under the theme “the business of nature”.

With the 2018 Conference the department seeks to create an opportunity for transformation by unpacking the modalities of the envisioned inclusive and transform the sector that has opportunities for all. This will be done by launching the Mebala Ya Rona Women and Youth in Biodiversity Chapter, an initiative aimed at pushing for greater inclusion of these groups within the biodiversity value chain.

“This conference is of extraordinary prominence to the sector and is envisaged to contribute positively to the growth of the sector and embark on discussions toward finding solutions to some of the challenges faced by the sector”.

“It will bring together experts and renowned entrepreneurs within the sectors of biodiversity, wildlife and eco-tourism in a key objective of engaging on the important role that, government together with the industry, can play to promote biodiversity economy growth in the province, and facilitate crucial transformation.

The topics will highlight developmental areas, opportunities for exploitation and present ideas that will assist those attending to tap into this industry. Going back to it’s first year’s approach, the conference will be free to those who register for it, over the two days,” said Tlhape.
