Food Security Projects handed over to 150 Jouberton families

Mandela Birthday benefits will come early for indigent families in Jouberton. North West MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Desbo Mohono will hand over food security projects to 150 families on Wednesday to mark the annual Nelson Mandela Day.

MEC Mohono said the new strategy approach for International Nelson Mandela Day identifies 5 key focus areas for global partnerships to focus on to have strategic impact:

  1. Education and Literacy

  2. Food and Nutrition

  3. Shelter

  4. Sanitation

  5. Active Citizenship

Identified families consist of unemployed youth, women, the poor and the vulnerable. They will receive agricultural inputs, seedlings as well as feed so they can intensively engage in agricultural activities and contribute to poverty reduction at household level. The department will further assist to provide infrastructure for all projects,” said Mohono.
