Moses Kotane Local Municipality celebrate transport month by donating 100 bicycles, helmets and reflective jackets to scholars
Moses Kotane Local Municipality today – 10th October 2019 celebrated transport month at mokgalwaneng. October is declared and launched as a Transport Month by President Cyril Ramaphosa on the 5th October 2019 in Gauteng, Heidelburg Weigh Bridge.
During this month government aims to encourage and further develop transport infrastructure services as well as use of public transport and roads. Therefore Moses Kotane Local Municipality donated 100 bicycles, helmets as well as reflective jackets to learners.
Road accident fund (RAF) representative Ms Malebo Molefe-Mmethi encouraged communities to always obey road rules weather they are driving or pedestrians.
Mme Molwantoa from Department of Community safety & Transport started by discarding overloads in scholar transport I.e 14 seater taxi would be having 25 learners. When the accident happen 25 people die said Mrs Molwantoa.
Director of Community services Mr Setshedi Kotsedi Stated that as the municipality we will keep developing programmes that encourage safety is adhered to in our local communities.
Acting Mayor Cllr Victor Kheswa, during his Adress stated that as the municipality we donated bicycles to encourage learners who live far from school to easily access the school. , let’s take care of this bicycles. He further encouraged parents to assist learners in taking care of these bicycles as well as ensuring learners drive on the correct lane said acting Mayor Cllr Victor Kheswa.

Stakeholders that graced the event we’re SAPS, department of correctional services, RAF, Department of Community safety & transport as well as Department of Health and were entertain by Reoleboge Special school.
