More donkey carts donated to North West villages

The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management continues to donate donkey carts at some rural parts of the North West Province. The department received mixed reactions last year when they enrolled their Non-motorised Transport Programme. Many thought it was an insult to rural communities while others saw it as a good business opportunity. Today the department is handing over 15 carts to Goodwood and Austry villages near Ganyesa in the Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality.

MEC Sello Lehari will hand over Animal Drawn Carts to 15 families.

The deaprtment said most rural areas of the Province had been reliant on this mode of transport to ferry people to clinics, pension pay-points and schools.
