Impala Boss Arrested for contravening lockdown regulations – out on R60 00 bail

Impala Platinum chief executive of Rustenburg Operations Mark Munroe has been arrested for contravening lockdown regulations. Munroe appeared in the Bafokeng Magistrate Court today.

Munroe allegedly sent SMSes to Impala employees including non-essential workers, to return to work this week. He later sent another SMS apologizing. According to lockdown regulations, mining was not classified as non essential. But on Thursday, Minister of Minerals Gwede Mantashe said mines can operate at 50% capacity.
