The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation arrested a suspect last night in a multi-disciplinary operation in Soweto. the suspect was being sought for his alleged involvement in the Mafikeng cash in transit heist wherein two Hawks’ members were murdered.
Ten suspects have been accounted for, in this case thus far. Out of the ten, the three Tefo Motsewakhumo (27), from Mafikeng, Themba Hlatshwayo (38), from Katlehong and Tshepho Mokoena (37) from Orange farm were fatally wounded during the confrontation, whilst the six suspects, Jabulani Yika (38), from Heidelberg, Phahlane Ngubeni (47), from Katlehong, Musa Mkhabele (34), also from Katlehong, Neo Marule (38), from Mafikeng, Simpiwe Msibi (24) and Tafere Dimmissie (38), from Ethiopia are behind bars on charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The arrested suspect will appear in Mahikeng Magistrate’s court soon on charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The last suspect is still on the run. Mr Tebo Phuthegolo, also known as, Boitumelo Mashishi (picture attached) is called upon to hand himself over so that he can come and prove his innocent before court. “As indicated before, our team shall not rest until all the members of this organised criminal group have been arrested. I commend the team for the work that they are doing to hunt these suspects,” said the National Head, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya. We hereby appeal for public assistance to locate the remaining suspect.
