The Rustenburg Local Municipality asked its employees to test for Coronavirus and now more and more employees are testing positive. The municipal leadership led by Executive Mayor, Mpho Khunou tested for Covid-19 and are awaiting results. Some officials also tested but not all tested negative.
The muncipality said the test results of one official located in the Office of the Speaker have a positive outcome. According to municipal spokesperson, David Magae, the office will be closed until further notice. Magae said another official from the Budget and Treasury Office (BTO) has also tested positive for Covid-19. “In line with the Covid-19 protocols, the two officials are in self-isolation.
The Municipality had to suspend services to ensure that the immediate work area and floor on which the employee based, is sufficiently disinfected. The Rates Hall will resume with operations tomorrow morning, to ensure that services to the public continue without any further hindrance. We remind the public to continue to wear face masks in all of our buildings, to make use of all the sanitization stations while maintaining social distancing
when accessing services,” said Maga.
