North West Premier, Prof Job Mokgoro has been hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19. But his spokesperson, Vuyi Ngesi said the Premier went to hospital voluntarily and he started his 14 days quarantine period. “The Premier is fine and he is not in any danger. He just moved from self quarantine to hospital quarantine. He will be there for 14 days. He did that to protect people who are staying with him at his official residence in Mahikeng,” said Ngesi.
Mokgoro announced to the virtual Special Provincial Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held on Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is effectively in self-isolation.
Premier Mokgoro took the COVID-19 test following the passing on of the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, the late Mothibi Gordon Kegakilwe and he received results on Tuesday, confirming that he has tested positive for the virus.
Ngesi said Premier Mokgoro is not incapacitated to carry out his duties as he was only presented with only one symptom – which is cough.
