The aftermath of heavy rains that wrecked havoc around the country in the last two weeks are starting to instill anxiety in the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality residents.

The overflows brought by the persistent rain have severely affected other parts of the district particularly in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality. Numerous roads have been closed after they were badly washed away and badly damaged by the stormy rains.

The foremost encounter acknowledged by the District Command Council is that there is no sufficient storm – water drainage system in the district.

District coronavirus Command Council chairperson Fetsang molosiwa have assured council members, that the district Disaster Management has prepared itself to respond and rescue residents of Bojanala who may be stranded in any kind of a disaster throughout this distressing time of COVID-19 19 and moving onward.
Residents are well encouraged to their local municipalities if there is any emergency service needed.

“As schools are about to resume on Monday, transport learner drivers are also cautioned not to drive kids through submerged culverts and bridges. The DCC received a report that preparations for the reopening of schools included re-orientation of educators and non-teaching staff of schools in the district on COVID-19 protocols,” said Fetsang.
