Day 2 – Schools Reopening – So Far So Good

The first day of the reopening of schools in the North West province registered a success as all schools implemented the Covid -19 non-negotiables across the board.

The North West Department of Education MEC, Mmaphefo Matsemela together with her executive managers went out of their offices to monitor the school compliance towards Covid-19 regulations on the first day of the reopening of schools.

Matsemela monitored schools at Ga – Khunwana Village in the Tswaing Local Municipality namely; Mogawana-Mochoete Primary, Kopanelong Secondary, Mochoete Primary and Itlotleng Secondary School.

“Today l am here to welcome all the learners back to school and to check if they are well received. All schools in the province are having a plan on how to receive the different grades since schools are following a differentiated time table. I am also checking if learners are taught on the first day of the reopening. It is critical to that l am here to check if learners have received their textbooks and stationery.

“So far l have seen that in the different schools there are markings on the floors to show learners the required distance they should keep. I am satisfied by the way the schools are following the Covid -19 regulations. I want to assure all stakeholders that we will never deviate from the regulations since our number one priority is health and safety of both teachers and learners”, said MEC Matsemela.

Today – Tuesday, 16 February 2021, MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela will accompany the Deputy Minister of the Department of Basic Education, Dr Reginah Mhaule in a visit to Broedersput Primary a farm school near Vryburg (on the Delaryville Road), Temoso Primary in Ganyesa Village, Huhudi Secondary school in Ganyesa Village within the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.
