Former North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo has been suspended for five years from the African National Congress.

The Interim Provincial Committee in the North West took a decision to suspend him this afternoon. Mahumapelo is accused of misconduct, he is said to have encouraged a member affected by the step aside resolution not to step aside. He is also accused of running parallel events during the campaigns for by-elections in some of the municipalities.
