Bokamoso residents shut down Rustenburg Municipality

Scores of outraged residents from Bokamoso Informal Settlement outside Rustenburg stormed municipal offices today demanding service delivery. Operations at the Rustenburg Local Municipality were temporarily halted as protesters barricaded the main entrance of of Missionary Mpheni Building. The residents handed over a memorandum of demands to the municipality and vowed to come back if their demands are not met. In a memorandum, residents complained about poor roads, sewage system and electricity. MMC for Infrastructure at the municipality, John Molubi accepted the memorandum and promised to visit the area next week. “We are aware about the problems at Bokamoso. I will personally visit the area next week to get first hand information,” said Molubi. The group dispersed peacefully.
