North West Premier Professor Job Mokgoro is still running the province despite efforts to remove him. Mokgoro was instructed to resign as the Premier of the North West but around 7pm – this evening, his office confirmed that Mokgoro is still the Premier. The ANC IPC in the North West held a press conference today introducing ANC Premier candidate, Bushy Maape. But for Maape to be the Premier, Mokgoro must resign as the Premier and a member of the Provincial Legislature and that will pave the way for Maape. But according to sources close to the Premier – he is not resigning any time soon. Mokgoro’s intentions not to resign were also boosted by a protest by other ANC members in Mahikeng today. IPC Coordinator Hlomani Chauke told journalists today that Mokgoro is cooperating and will resign. Chauke said one of the reasons why Mokgoro was recalled by the ANC is that he does not follow ANC instructions. We are keeping a close eye on this developing story – we will keep you posted.
