North West Leader of Government Business and MEC for Finance, Motlalepula Rosho has been sworn-in as the Acting Premier of North West.
 
This follows the resignation of Professor Job Mokgoro who submitted his resignation to the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature today. His resignation was accepted and in line with section 131 (1) (b) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996. It was therefore necessary that the Executive Council convenes to designate a member as an Acting Premier
 
At its special sitting convened at 14h00 on Thursday 26 August 2021, the Executive Council unanimously designated MEC Motlalepula Rosho as the Acting Premier of the North West Province.
 
Accordingly, MEC Rosho, following her designation by the Executive Council, was sworn in as acting Premier by the Judge President, Ms M. Leeuw at a ceremony held in the Office of the Premier at 16h45 today and was congratulated on her election as the Acting Premier of the North West Province.
 
The North West Executive Council met earlier today and nominated MEC Rosho to act as the Premier following the resignation of the former Premier, Prof. Tebogo Job Mokgoro.
